MissionFest Toronto Survey Results (March 2016)

In March of 2016, MissionFest conducted its first official survey of over 5,000 people who have attended MissionFest between 2007 and 2014. This includes visitors, participants and contributors representing various sectors of society; churches, para-ministries, mission agencies, industry professionals (business), media & arts, government and education. Here is a summary of some of the key findings.

Respondents: 528 (11% of survey distribution)

Key Highlights & Summary

  • 57% of respondents identified themselves as church leaders and para-ministries leaders
  • 71% said they attended MissionFest multiple times (i.e. 2 or more times over a 7 year period)
  • An opportunity was identified to draw and engage the next generation (youth and students) more to MissionFest
  • 77% said the primary reasons for attending MissionFest was to be “Inspired” , supporting MFT and networking
  • The main attendees were individuals who are looking for information for themselves
  • More than 50% favoured the annual centralize location and event format and many would like to see additional events throughout the year at multiple locations
  • About one quarter (22%) of respondents said their church  “does not have its own missions program”.  An opportunity exist to focus on supporting these churches in missions
  • There was very favourable response (72%) with strong interest for online tools and resources for missions
  • Some general feedback include partners would like to be engaged in recommending relevant content and topics for seminars

71% said they attended MissionFest multiple times (i.e. 2 or more times over a 7 year period)

The primary reasons (77%) for attending MissionFest has been to be “Inspired” , supporting MFT and networking

More than half of the respondents would like to see the following MissionFest hosted activities at their church;

  • MissionFest presenting missions (58%)
  • MissionFest hosting a missions seminar (morning or afternoon session) – (55%)
  • MissionFest hosting a one day event focused on a specific topic (ie. missions training, fund raising, etc.) – (57%)
