EVENT REPORT – MISSIONFEST TORONTO
APRIL 16-18, 2009
Lives Saved. Bondages Broken. Destinies Determined.
The Father’s Heart Revived in His people.
This year MissionFest Toronto sprung forth with a new date, new location and bright sunny skies. From April 16th to 18th, attendees enjoyed meeting, greeting and connecting with the exhibitors, speakers, volunteers and many others. Due to encouraging testimonials from those who attended and participated in the event this past April, we are pleased to see that the Father’s heart is being fulfilled.
“The most compelling and eventful part of the event for me had to be the personal interactions, dialogues and prayers…. I felt on many levels this was a God orchestrated set up to release me into missions. There was much thought provoking conversations about how I could get involved as an individual for local and international initiatives to get involved in Jesus’ great commission to make disciples of the nations!”
– Gabrielle Smith, Mississauga, Ontario.
MissionFest presented a buffet of diverse programming with a host of dynamic speakers, seminars, plenary sessions, over 200 exhibitors, a Women’s Forum, ENGAGE Youth program, ON Purpose Leadership Day, Word & Worship concert, visual arts gallery, interactive children’s program and prayer.
Attendees and participants from Canada and abroad shared their experiences and knowledge to assist in encouraging, educating, enlightening and engaging people of all ages to get involved in missions wherever God has called them.
“I met some absolutely wonderful people and heard some most incredibly encouraging and spiritually moving messages.” – Terry Carter
Life-changing messages expressed through speakers like Tony Campolo, Benji Devadason, Suzette Maciel, Shane Claiborne, Charla Pereau, Mark Rivers, Ron Pearce and many others captivated those who listened attentively to hear what God would speak to them. The messages and teachings covered persecution, prophecy and missions, the resurrecting church, growing leaders, community building, battling for youth, justice and the great commission.
The Mission Adventure Morning children’s program with guest speaker Anthony McLean of iEngage was one of the highlights during the event. The students and teachers of the schools were significantly impacted by the multimedia presentation of a rap drama focusing on the question, “What would Jesus be like if he were a student at my school?”
“We thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Mission Adventure Morning. The speaker Anthony McLean was incredible…I hope you plan to do it again next year.”
– Life in Messiah International
This year MissionFest hosted a diverse group of exhibitors — Nation at Prayer, McTavish Missions Travel, Gospel for Asia, Fellowship of Christian Farmers, Christians for Israel, CTS television network, Muskoka Bible Centre, Wear da Word, Voice of the Martyrs and so many more.
Attendees were so impressed by all the opportunities available to them in what they can do for God. One attendee said that three exhibitors prayed with her at their individual booths on the spot which gave her the confirmation she needed to move into her destiny.
“Most people that came to see us knew Jesus, but were totally unaware of how they could use tools to help them present the Gospel.” – Fellowship of Christian Farmers
Young people from across Ontario came out to MissionFest by the hundreds for the ENGAGE Youth Day where they were challenged to reach out to others and discover God’s call to selfless living.
The musical worship was extraordinary with inspiring words and an intimate expression of love for Christ from artists like Brian Doerksen, Jubilance Singers and Orchestra, Allen Froese, and Diane Lee-Clemons who sang to a full audience at the Women’s Forum.
Some say this was the best MissionFest ever, ‘uniting together for the same cause’, with ‘relationships being rekindled’ and ‘bridges built’. As Reynold Mainse of Crossroads Christian Communications said it best, we come to MissionFest “to join arms as the family of God.”
Thanks to everyone who participated in MissionFest 2009!!!
